Seven Steps to Prepare - Step 2
Every applicant must have a technology plan approved by the state or other authorized body before seeking funding. The technology plans does not have to be approved until the school submits Form 486, at the time when the services start to be rendered. Identify your technology plan authorization agent (usually the state agency that regulates schools), and ask when you can submit your technology plan. You can locate your Certified Technology Plan Approver using the USAC Website. The authorization agent may vary from state to state. Authorization agents have not received special federal funding for this service. Anticipate that some authorization agents may become back-logged because of inadequate funding for staffing.
